Summit Publishing Company has announced the creation of Automation World, a new business publication for users and sellers of automation systems and components. Covering "the Business of Automation from Sensor to Customer," Automation World will begin monthly distribution in June as a property of the newly formed Summit Media LLC. The publication will be geared to engineers and individuals in manufacturing and business management who specify and fund automation projects.

Business press veteran David Harvey will be Vice President/Publisher of Automation World. Harvey spent 22 years with Reed Business Information, the past nine as Publisher of Control Engineering. Other editorial members include Jane Gerold, who joins Automation World as Editorial Director. Gerold has 20 years of professional experience in manufacturing and automation, including publishing, engineering, and management roles. She was an integral part of the growth of Control Engineering, where her positions included Editorial Director, Director of Integrated Marketing, and Associate Publisher. Coming on board Automation World, as Editor is Gary Mintchell. Most recently, the Senior Editor of Control Engineering, Mintchell covered machine control, embedded control, human-machine interface, and manufacturing software stories.

David Harvey said, "Automation World intends to serve this market in a new and innovative way with information that illustrates how to use automation as a competitive business edge. Automation World's editorial approach acknowledges the complexity behind today's purchase decisions, and will attract readers from all levels of the buying team. This includes engineering, manufacturing, and information technology management throughout the supply chain. We expect Automation World and Automationworld.com to uniquely meet the information needs of the automation and controls community."

Chicago-based Summit Publishing Company also publishes Packaging World, a B2B packaging magazine reaching over 100,000 packaging professionals, converters, distributors and suppliers each month. Packaging World's companion website, Packworld.com, features the packaging information, a Buyer's Guide and streaming video on Packworld.tv.
