Gemstone to Publish Comic Price Review

Posted on March 21, 2003

Gemstone Publishing has announced plans to publish Overstreet's Comic Price Review, a specialty publication that will provide pricing information regarding sales of high-grade comic books and collectibles graded in the 9.0 to 10.0 range. Each issue will include retailer feedback, recent sales, auction results, opinions, specific feature articles, and profiles of new and important individuals in the business, as well as market analysis.

Overstreet's Comic Price Review will be an approximately thirty-two page monthly newsletter. The first issue will be available mid-year and will be sold as a yearly subscription costing $75.00. The publisher of the newsletter will be Robert M. Overstreet, who founded The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide over three decades ago.

"With the countless number of high profile auctions, frequent eBay sales, the introduction of third party grading into our business, and because we live today in a world of up-to-the-minute information, it's no wonder our advisors and other readers have often requested something like this publication," said Steve Geppi, Gemstone Publishing's President and Chief Executive Officer. "We're delighted to be able to bring together the many important elements in a comprehensive format for serious collectors and dealers."

Joining the Gemstone staff to manage the newsletter will be Tom Gordon of Monumental Collectibles, who in recent years has become a major figure in the on-going research and development of the Victorian Age, Platinum Age and Golden Age categories. A fifth generation collector in a family whose collecting interests date to at least 1860, Gordon brings an extensive background in research and collecting to the publication. He contributed to the recently released edition of The Overstreet Comic Book Grading Guide.

"I'm really looking forward to being first to market with this publication. The timing could not be better. Overstreet's Comic Price Review is going to play a major role in accurately reporting what's happening in our hobby and our businesses," Gordon said.
