Swirl Wine News Debuts
Swirl Wine News, a bimonthly publication for wine lovers,
has published its premiere issue, dated March-April 2003.
Swirl is a subscription-based publication
featuring 16 color pages with information about wine.
Swirl Wine News is published by SW14 Group LLC.
Subscriptions cost $59 per year in the U.S. and $75 outside
of the U.S.
Publisher Tom Wszalek said, "We conceived Swirl (over a couple of
glasses of champagne) to deliver useful information about wine
in an easy-to-read, engaging format. At Swirl, our mission is
simple: make the world of wine easier and more fun for everyone."
Swirl promises to cover all wine-related topics including
buying, serving, drinking, storing and sharing wine.
The magazine's regular features and
premiere issue highlights include:
- "Restaurants" visits a different major city in each issue,
giving Swirl's readers the scoop on the best wine bars and restaurants
to visit.
- "Issue of the Issue" puts reader questions to a panel of wine
industry experts. The premiere issue addresses the age-old
debate about red wine: "To decant, or not to decant?"
- "What Goes With...?" examines wine and food pairings. In
March-April, Swirl look at wines to serve with Easter and Passover
meals, with a special focus on the cutting-edge wines of
Paso Robles, California.
- "The Wine Lists" provides recommendations from a range of
global retailers, sommeliers and other experts.
- "The Unknown Grape" goes beyond the familiar to explore a
different varietal each issue.
- "Swirligigs" is Swirl's roundup of the latest, greatest and most
interesting wine accessories.
- Other regular features include "Every Bottle has a Story," "Wine
on the Web," "To Your Health," "Upcoming Wine Events," "What
Does THAT Mean?," and interviews with notable wine industry
personalities.
"Wine is fascinating in part because of its wonderful diversity,
but it also can be intimidating," says Arlene Wszalek, Editor and
Associate Publisher. "We want to empower consumers who enjoy wine
by demystifying it for them. Swirl is accessible and enjoyable
for novices, while remaining useful and informative to
connoisseurs."
