Variety Launches Lifestyle Publication

Posted on March 21, 2003

Variety launched its inaugural issue of a VLife, the first in a series of 6 issues each year that focus on the people and passions of entertainment. Variety is a trade resource for people in the entertainment business, so the addition of lifestyle and celebrity coverage will be an editorial change of pace. Variety says VLife is "a publication that is for and about the lives of Variety's readers, an elite club of affluentials."

VLife is a 4-color glossy broadsheet produced on coated stock. VLife was polybagged to Weekly Variety and mailed to the paid circulation of both Weekly and Daily Variety. VLife will be available on newsstands at select locations throughout Southern California.

"Variety has long fulfilled a distinctive niche in reporting on the business of show business. But the entertainment community loves to play as well as to work. It's as interested in the fall line as the bottom line. VLife reflects those passions," said Peter Bart, editor-in-chief of Variety.

Daily Variety, Daily Variety Gotham, Weekly Variety and Variety.com are all owned by Reed Business Information (RBI), a member of the Reed Elsevier Group plc. RBI's content portfolio includes 115 websites as well as Publishers Weekly, Design News and 130 other business-to-business magazines.
