Scholastic.com and MSNBC.com Announce Content Deal

Scholastic.com, a children's publisher and news source for kids, has joined with MSNBC.com, an online news website, in an online content agreement. As part of the agreement, special reports and breaking news bulletins written by Scholastic's team of news and parenting editors will be available from the MSNBC.com home page Quick Links via Scholastic News as well as on the co-branded scholastic.msnbc.com.

"The agreement between Scholastic.com and MSNBC.com creates an exciting, robust and comprehensive news resource speaking to a broad audience, from kids in the classroom to adults in the global consumer space," said Donna Iucolano, President of e-Scholastic. "Now more than ever -- in the wake of September 11, school violence, the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster and the war with Iraq -- children need to have a context and understanding of how national and world events affect their lives. This MSNBC.com and Scholastic commitment to offer balanced, age-appropriate news and information will provide a platform for parents and teachers to discuss important daily news events with children."

Also featured on scholastic.msnbc.com will be information on popular culture, a weekly poll and current events-related games and quizzes. Parents and teachers will find discussion guides and activities for use with children at home and in the classroom, and resources for education and parenting issues. In turn, as part of the agreement, MSNBC.com will provide Scholastic.com's audience a vast interactive features on numerous topics, including science, technology, space exploration, and social studies. These will appear on Scholastic.com's "Online Activities" area used by teachers and students in school.
