Posted on July 25, 2003

NeoPets, Inc., a virtual pet website, and Beckett Entertainment Publications, publisher of the bestselling Beckett Yu-Gi-Oh Collector and other anime and collectibles magazines, have announced a licensing agreement for Beckett to produce Neopets: The Official Magazine. Dedicated exclusively to the world of Neopets, the magazine will debut on newsstands September 1, 2003.

Inside Neopets: The Official Magazine fans will find information about their favorite characters or areas of Neopia, as well as fan art galleries, reviews and previews of the trading card game and other licensed Neopets products. The magazine will also feature how-to-draw articles, games, contests, a special poster and exclusive Neopets tips and tricks.

"Our aim is to capture the enjoyable and multifaceted experience that Neopets members find online and broaden that experience with unique magazine features and interactive content," said Claire Amano, Beckett Entertainment Publications publisher. "We're thrilled with the opportunity to partner with the creative minds at Neopets. And we look forward to not only serving millions of Neopets fans, but also bringing the excitement of Neopets to an audience of involved magazine readers."

"To say that we're excited about this partnership would be an understatement," said Neopets chief operating officer, Lee Borth. "The team at Beckett has demonstrated a tremendous understanding of what Neopets is all about. And, without a doubt, their impressive ability to launch an entertainment magazine with incredible momentum and sustain that momentum makes us feel very good about the relationship."

Neopets: The Official Magazine will carry a cover price of $9.99. The magazine will have wide distribution via a network of more than 165,000 retail locations.

NeoPets, Inc., is a privately held corporation based in Glendale, California that owns and operates, Neopets, an online entertainment network whose members create "virtual pets" that inhabit a mythical land called Neopia. Neopets has consistently ranked as one of the 10 "stickiest" websites in the world (as measured by Nielsen//NetRatings) and generates more than 2 billion page views per month.
