Qiosk Launches Digital Magazine News

Posted on September 19, 2003

Qiosk.com, a provider of digital magazine delivery, has launched Digital Magazine News, a trade journal for the growing field of electronic magazine distribution. DMN is delivered in QuVu(C), a new digital format that makes onscreen reading easier.

The premiere issue reports on digital rights, building electronic circulation, Microsoft's foray into digital publishing, and Webvan founder Louis Border's latest effort, KeepMedia. The magazine features contributions from Newsweek's Michael Rogers and NASA Tech Brief's Joe Pramberger as well as insights from Hearst's Jay McGill, Synapse's Michael Loeb, FIPP's Don Kummerfeld, and Miguel Forbes.

DMN is also the first magazine delivered in QuVu, an "open platform" digital format that is easily read on any computer screen using Adobe Acrobat Reader. No additional software or downloads are required, and readers can access multiple viewing options through an embedded tool bar. Articles are hyperlinked to the Table of Contents, while ads are linked to the advertisers' external sites. DMN is fully text searchable and can be printed page by page or in its entirety.

Publisher Dan Schwartz said, "DMN is a timely and informative publication serving this rapidly growing community. Its QuVu delivery format is specifically designed for electronic delivery, representing an important break with current efforts to simply duplicate the print version on screen. And, while not a silver bullet, it enables magazine publishers to explore the digital frontier of modern media and communications."
