Posted on October 10, 2003
Avery Cardoza, a bestselling author and gambling publisher, is betting that men ages 25-45 will want to read a new upscale gambling lifestyle magazine. That's why he's introducing Avery Cardoza's Player, which will hit newsstands nationally on October 21, 2003. Avery Cardoza's Player will sell for $4.99. In addition to a subscription list exceeding 40,000 names, AC Player magazine will be distributed to suites in selected major casinos.
"It's time to celebrate the fun and excitement of the entire gaming experience," said Cardoza. "Every person I talk to about AC Player has the same reaction: They love gambling and everything associated with it. They can't wait to get those vicarious thrills through our magazine."
Executive Editor Jim Mauro has assembled experts and writers to cover the passions of the gambling lifestyle including the drinks, the smokes, the right clothing, the right toys. As Mauro says, "This magazine gives readers a chance to experience that coming-to-life thrill when they're not at the tables."
Features from the premiere issue include:
- High Roller Heaven -- A day in the life of a high-stakes gambler
- Poker Night -- Actor Kevin Pollack bets, raises, and reveals in a Hold 'Em game at the Bellagio in Las Vegas
- Sin City Returns -- Features the hostesses of Tabu lounge in MGM Grand.
- Ten departments on the games themselves, including a special section on poker
- 7 Deadly Sins -- a series of lifestyle columns that will appear in each issue with advice and information specifically related to each sin.
- Pride -- covers fashion, gluttony looks at a night of total indulgence, and lust, with ruminations from a female columnist, asks, "Where have all the real men gone?"
- Best Bets -- readers are kept up-to-date with the "must haves," including fashion, accessories, gadgets, cocktails, cigars and more.
Mauro said, "In a casino resort, people stand taller, dress better, treat themselves to a taste of the good life. Everyone who's ever sat at a table feels at least for one moment like James Bond. And for those of us who know that feeling, there's nothing else like it in the world."
