Global Gaming Business to Launch Casino Connection

Posted on October 31, 2003

Global Gaming Business LLC has announced that it will publish Casino Connection, a new magazine dedicated to the employees of the Atlantic City gaming industry. Casino Connection will focus on the positive contributions the gaming industry has made in Atlantic City and for the state of New Jersey.

"The need for Casino Connection became apparent last spring as casino operators were struggling to combat a proposed tax increase," said Roger Gros, editor and co-publisher of Global Gaming Business magazine. "Casino Connection will educate Atlantic City's 54,000 casino employees about what gaming has done for the state, from the massive infrastructure that has revived Atlantic City to the more than $4 billion in taxes paid into the Casino Revenue Fund that benefits New Jersey's senior and disabled citizens."

Casino Connection will be a glossy, standard-sized magazine published monthly. It will be the only publication distributed inside the cafeterias and lounges in every casino hotel in Atlantic City. Casino Connection will launch with the December 2003 issue.

"The Casino Association of New Jersey (CANJ) supports this publication," said Dennis Gomes, the president of Aztar Corporation's Resort Division, which operates the Atlantic City Tropicana, and the president of CANJ. "We want to provide our employees with positive information about the industry and its role in the state and the nation, and we believe Casino Connection will help us to do that."

Casino Connection will discuss issues important to casino employees, including the roles of the New Jersey Casino Control Commission, the Division of Gaming Enforcement, the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority, and many other state agencies that work with the industry. The magazine also will advise employees on how to get ahead, the importance of customer service and publish profiles of interesting employees and executives.

"Casino Connection will also be entertaining," said Gros. "Casino employees will read this publication on their breaks and their lunch hour, so we plan to write in a breezy, conversational style that will be quick to read as well as informative."

In addition to the magazine, Casino Connection will produce a TV show of the same title at WMCN-TV in Atlantic City. Hosted by Gros and ESPN and HBO sports commentator Dave Bontempo, the television program will launch in January 2004. Casino Connection is the latest product produced by Global Gaming Business LLC. In addition to the industry trade magazine, Global Gaming Business, the company publishes Global Gaming Business Weekly, an electronic newsmagazine.
