The book, to be entitled, When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops?, will be an assortment of short and long form humorous observations, essays, complaints, and routinesr. The book is scheduled for publication in October, 2004. About the new book deal George Carlin said, "Here we go again, folks. Cheap shots, horrifying thoughts, and a few bright ideas." George Carlin's television breakthrough came in the 1960s with his Hippy Dippy Weatherman character. Since then he has released 18 comedy albums, won three Grammy and six Cable Ace awards, and starred in twelve solo HBO comedy specials. He has also been nominated for five Emmys and has received the American Comedy Awards Lifetime Achievement Award. In addition, he has appeared in 10 movies, including Dogma, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, and The Prince of Tides, as well as starring in his own sitcom. In March, 2004 he will appear with Ben Affleck in Kevin Smith's feature film Jersey Girl. Carlin has also published two national bestsellers with Hyperion, Brain Droppings, which has sold more than 850,000 copies and stayed on the New York Times bestseller list for a total of nine months, and Napalm and Silly Putty, which was a #1 New York Times bestseller and has sold half a million copies to date. Carlin lives in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, but spends much of the year performing to sold-out audiences across the country in theaters and concert halls. The announcement was made by Hyperion president Bob Miller. Bob Miller worked with Carlin's manager, Jerry Hamza, on the deal. Executive editor Gretchen Young will be the editor for the book. Hyperion retains world, first serial, book club, audio, and ebook rights. The audio version will be read by the author.
