Friday, January 23, 2004 CMP Media Launches Xtreme Video Magazine The premiere issue provides tips and tricks for shooting action sports, including surfing, FMX, BMX, aggressive in-line skating, skate boarding, and more. The cover story, "Extreme TV," features a behind-the-scenes look at how ESPN shot X Games IX using helmetcams, frogcams, flycams, and more. There's also an in-depth look at wide-angle lenses-the essential accessory of action sports photography and videography -- and an interview with combat videographer Mike Elwell, whose footage of the war in Iraq aired on ABC. "One of our objectives in publishing Xtreme Video Magazine is to bring together both novice and professional videographers and photographers-reaching those who already shoot extreme action while introducing it to the curiosity seekers," says Scott Gentry, Group Director of CMP Media Digital Video Group. "Furthermore, Xtreme Video Magazine will be reaching professionals shooting for ESPN, Eco-Challenge, etc., as well as the Gen X and Y crowd with a passion for action sports and high-tech gear. There is a huge market for high-tech photography and video gear used in capturing life at the edge."
