Guideposts Magazine Debuts At Newsstands

Posted on March 12, 2004

The March 2004 issue of Guideposts magazine, featuring a cover story by bestselling author/financial adviser Suze Orman, is the first issue in Guideposts' 59-year history to be available via mass distribution at newsstands. Already one of America's top ten largest monthly magazines, Guideposts is taking its true stories of hope and inspiration to a wider national audience.

Guideposts hopes to build interest and sales at newsstands using its real-life editorial platform. Guideposts' issues contain articles, from celebrities and everyday people alike, covering topics such as: relationships, health issues, family, self-help, heroism, survival, and rescue. Regular departments and on-going series focus on subject like: People Helping People, Caregivers, Health Breakthroughs, Communities in Action, and Pets & Healing.

In addition to Suze Orman's story, Guideposts' March 2004 issue includes stories about: love and loss on an American farm, a basketball coaching legend, a hobby that became a family's salvation, dealing with autoimmune disorders, a woman's search for her birth mother, saving a small town library, four men who survived an avalanche, and more.

"Our stories have impact because they're true. And, they really connect with people because the person the story is about actually writes the story - even the celebrities," said Edward Grinnan, Editor-in-Chief of Guideposts. "For years people have asked to see Guideposts at newsstands, and now some of the biggest retail outlets in America have helped us make that happen," he added. Beginning today Guideposts is on sale at major retailers, food & drug chains, bookstores, and newsstands at a cover price of $2.49.

Guideposts was founded in 1945 by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale and has a circulation of 2.6 million with a readership of 8 million. The magazine publishes first-person stories of hope and inspiration written by its readers (over 55,000 manuscripts are received each year). Guideposts magazine, with editorial offices in New York, is published by Guideposts, a non-profit publishing company based in Carmel, New York.
