The content will focus on guitars, basses, keyboards, pro audio, and related gear, and will reside in a new site by MPN for beginner and experienced musicians called the Backstage Lounge, created especially for eBay and accessible from the eBay Musical Instruments page. Within the Backstage Lounge, MPN will provide a glossary of musical terms, so eBay users can familiarize themselves with what to look for when purchasing a guitar (such as a specific type of guitar pickup, or pro audio interface). Beginners, or those who want to experiment with a new instrument, will have access to detailed "Buyer Guides," which break down each instrument according to general features, such as what kind of tone to expect from a guitar with a mahogany body. Musicians interested in a specific music player's tone can zoom in on the player's rig in the "Gear of the Stars" section, and use the convenient links provided to search for the same components on eBay. "The content the Music Player Network is providing is tremendously valuable to our large community of users. eBay users will now be able to research their purchases and become more informed and confident in their purchasing," said Giles Cassels, eBay's Senior Category Manager for Musical Instruments, "This content also provides incentives for them to frequently return to the eBay site, as MPN will be updating the Lounge on a regular basis, adding additional lessons, gear overviews, and even moderated forums where they can dialogue with other musicians." The Music Player Network, a music instrument publishing company and publisher of Guitar Player, Bass Player, Keyboard, and EQ, has a circulation of almost 300,000 readers and has a magazine for nearly every player in the band. Guitar Player, the company's flagship magazine, recently went under a transformation and relaunch, and is the number one title for guitar players in the U.S., while reaching 154,000 dedicated players each month. The Music Player Network is a division of CMP Information, the UK-headquarted professional media division of United Business Media plc.
