BowTie, Inc. Acquires Doral Publishing

Posted on May 28, 2004

BowTie, Inc., has announced that it has acquired book publisher Doral Publishing, Inc., based in Phoenix, Arizona. Doral is known for publishing quality dog titles, which include breed specific, training, search and rescue, healthcare, showing and fiction/non-fiction books. BowTie, Inc. is the parent company of Fancy Publications, a producer of pet and animal magazines including such titles as Dog Fancy, Cat Fancy and Horse Illustrated.

The purchase of Doral Publishing is the second acquisition that BowTie has completed in the past month. Earlier this month, BowTie acquired Kennel Club Books, which is in collaboration with BowTie's book division, BowTie Press. Doral, as well, will be structured under BowTie Press.

"The acquisition of Doral further expands our portfolio and is the perfect complement to our recent Kennel Club Book acquisition," said Norman Ridker, Founder and President of BowTie, Inc. "Doral allows us to provide the canine enthusiast with quality information in the form of another great line of books."

BowTie will retain the consulting services of Doral Publishing's Founder, CEO and Publisher, Dr. Alvin Grossman. Dr. Grossman is currently the president and chairman of the board of the American Spaniel Club and a delegate to the American Kennel Club.

"I feel confident that the Doral titles couldn't be in better hands," Dr. Grossman said. "There is no more appropriate successor than BowTie."

BowTie, Inc. has more than 50 magazines and books in distribution. Divisions of BowTie, Inc. include Fancy Publications, BowTie Press and Advanced Vivarium Systems, an imprint of BowTie Press, Thoroughbred Times Company, Global Distribution Services, and AnimalNetwork.com.
