Friday, June 18, 2004 American Lawyer Media Launches GC New York The four-color magazine, to be published quarterly, focuses on topics of interest to the region's corporate counsel, providing coverage of legal issues and cases that impact companies, as well as profiles of people and personalities from the area's corporate legal departments. GC New York also examines departmental management topics and will include case studies and regional lists, rankings and compensation reports related to in-house legal departments. "GC New York addresses the full range of issues facing in-house counsel, the legal decision makers in New York's largest corporations, from both legal and business perspectives," said George M. Dillehay, publisher of the magazine. "In addition, the magazine provides marketers with a direct channel to the group directly responsible for selecting suppliers and outsourcing work to law firms, in the most active and lucrative legal market in the nation." Highlights of the inaugural GC New York issue include an examination of state and federal legislative efforts to curtail foreign outsourcing of white-collar jobs by American employers; a review of new and pending decisions by the National Labor Relations Board under the Bush administration in such areas as temporary employee status, retaliatory lawsuits and employer e-mail policies; a look at employer liability for workplace spam; and an overview of changing laws related to same-sex couple benefits. GC New York will be distributed to an initial controlled circulation group with bonus first-issue distribution to attendees at Corporate Counsel Magazine's 16th annual General Counsel Conference in New York City. The second issue of the magazine will be published on October 12, 2004 and will feature a special focus on corporate governance. The magazine is also available to private attorneys by subscription.
