Friday, June 18, 2004 Woman's Day Features Librarian Book Recommendations The book club is currently featured on the site’s "Community" section at womansday.com/community and will run through next spring, with each selection featured for two weeks. Readers can share their thoughts about reading and books in the "Book Club Forum" section of the website. "At Woman's Day, we continue to receive an enthusiastic response about the popularity and joy of reading, so I'm particularly delighted that Womansday.com users will be able to enjoy the new librarian book selections that are now being offered in our book club forum. The librarians' choices is a welcome addition here," said Jane Chesnutt, editor-in-chief, Woman's Day. The contributing librarians are: Amy Alessio, Schaumburg Township (Ill.) District Library; Catherine M. Beyers, Southern Bluffs Elementary, LaCrosse, Wisc.; Peter Butts, East Middle School, Holland, Mich.; Christine Caputo, Free Library of Philadelphia; Patti Gonzales, Los Angeles Public Library; Sue McGown, St. John's School, Houston, Tex.; Debra Nelson, Prince George's County Memorial Library, Hyattsville, Md.; Lyn Persson, Wilmette (Ill.) Public Library; Dawn Rutherford, King County Library System, Lake Hills Branch, Bellevue, Wash.; Joel Shoemaker, South East Junior High School, Iowa City, Iowa; Ken Stewart, Blue Valley High School, Stilwell, Kan.; Terry Young, West Jefferson High School, Harvey, La. ALA and Woman’s Day have also collaborated on the "Put it in Writing @ your library" program, which, for the past three years, has brought Woman’s Day writers out to 31 libraries across the country to lead workshops for aspiring writers on how to get published in a magazine. The latest workshops were held at 15 public and community college libraries during National Library Week 2004. Woman's Day is published by Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S., Inc.
