Joe Veltre has announced the establishment of a new literary agency, Artists Literary Group, LLC (ALG) in New York. Veltre has a background in literary representation, including book and film properties, as well as in editorial and foreign rights. At Miramax Films he held positions as both a film executive and Editor-at-Large for Miramax Books. Prior to that, Veltre was Senior Editor at HarperCollins and St. Martins Press. Most recently, he was a Literary Agent at Carlisle & Company, where he also served as the Foreign and Film rights director.

"I am very optimistic about the future of the book business and I look forward to utilizing my background to help maximize our clients earning potential. ALG's core mission is helping artists -- from historians and journalists to novelists and celebrities -- tell stories. We will stretch the boundaries of the traditional agent's role, acting as our writers business partner, sharply focused on how their work can have the most impact across a variety of mediums," said Veltre from his Union Square office.

Joining ALG as a Literary Agent is Diane Bartoli, formerly an editor at Dell Publishing (a division of Bertelsmann). She resigned her position at Dell to pursue her MBA from NYU and was subsequently hired by publishing conglomerate Reed Elsevier as an executive in strategy and market development.

ALG represents clients and projects in a variety of areas including commercial and literary fiction, genre fiction, mysteries and romance titles, general and narrative non-fiction, including biographies, academic and popular history, business, health and how-to titles.
