The Knot Launches Website for Newlyweds

Posted on November 19, 2004

The Nest is a new website for newlyweds from The Knot, Inc., a popular online wedding resource. The interactive site marries modern advice with functional features to offer just-marrieds a place to tackle and talk about life happily ever after while getting through their massive to-do list -- from merging finances to splitting up chores -- without splitting up.

"For years, our chat boards on TheKnot.com have been inundated by newly married couples seeking advice on critical postwedding topics, so we created The Nest to meet their special demands," said Editor in Chief Carley Roney. "Working with millions of engaged couples, we have gained an unprecedented understanding of the needs of people merging their lives and can pinpoint exactly where they are in the postnuptial stage. The Nest is tailored to meet their newlywed-specific needs with savvy advice and stylish ideas; tools designed to assist them through the everyday challenges of married life; and a community where they can continue their relationships with other 'Knotties'."

The site includes personalized tools to help couples manage the details of their married lives. Some of the features include a first year to-do list that contains information from changing your name to coordinating health insurance; a reminder service that helps you to keep your in-law's' birthdays and anniversaries top of mind; an address list; a free website builder, a blogging tool and a budget section where couples can track personal finances, including a monthly budget and savings goals.

The Nest area called Love is where newlyweds can measure up their sex compatibility, find out about their communication skills, and get helpful advice from experts. The Love section also provides newlywed horoscopes. The Nest Living area helps couples achieve domestic bliss, with tutorials on entertaining and decorating, wine quizzes, a recipe community, and more. Also offered in Living are guides to making big purchases such as mattresses, cars, and plasma-screen TVs. The Nest Life area helps newlyweds learn the fundamentals of mastering marital responsibilities -- from finances to organizing to establishing future goals. Nest also provides chat and message boards.

The Knot Inc., based in New York, provides comprehensive wedding planning information, interactive tools and resources, and wedding-related shopping. The Knot offers wedding through its website, TheKnot.com and a collection of wedding planning print publications. The Knot produces a national publication, The Knot Weddings Magazine, and, through its subsidiary Weddingpages, Inc., publishes The Knot Weddings regional wedding magazines in 18 U.S. markets. In addition, the company publishes a wedding planning book trilogy with Broadway Books and a gift book series with Chronicle Books; and produces a televised documentary series on The Oxygen Network and a VOD service for Comcast Cable.
