The IWJ Interviews James Rollins
Friday, June 10, 2005 The latest issue of The Internet Writing Journal includes an exclusive interview with bestselling author James Rollins. Rollins recently had two books debut on the New York Times bestseller list: Sandstorm (now out in paperback) and Map of Bones (William Morrow). Map of Bones is a spine-tingling thriller that mixes science, ancient mysteries, the Vatican and exotic locations. Map of Bones is the first book in the new SIGMA series, featuring an elite group of specialists with both special ops skills and scientific backgrounds who are sent all over the world to combat threats to the United States. In this exclusive interview, Jim discusses the truth behind the science in Map of Bones, how growing up Catholic gives him a different perspective when writing a thriller set in the Vatican, and the dangers of allowing politics to trump science in the classroom. Articles in this month's issue include: "Rhyme and Reason, Part 2" by syndicated radio show host and CEO of CQK Music & Records, Mary Dawson; "Why I Wrote Mistress Bradstreet" by Charlotte Gordon, author of Mistress Bradstreet: The Untold Life of America's First Poet (Little, Brown); and "The Witch in the Well" by Kim Wilkins, author of The Autumn Castle (Warner Aspect). The issue also includes book reviews in several genres including children's, fantasy/SF, lifestyle, mystery/thriller and romance. The IWJ website also includes a frequently updated weblog about books, journalism, publishing and writing.
