Simon & Schuster Launches SimonSays Podcast

Posted on October 14, 2005

Publishing house Simon & Schuster has launched SimonSays Podcast. The subscription-based, weekly half-hour podcast contains original programming featuring the company's top print and audio titles. This new program also includes interviews with bestselling authors, features about the publishing industry, and excerpts from Simon & Schuster audiobooks.

Chris Lynch, Executive Vice President and Publisher of Simon & Schuster Audio said "A podcast makes perfect sense for us. We have valuable audio content as well as access to authors in the studio, where our seasoned staff can produce personal and unique original interviews. This is a great way to highlight and promote our outstanding publishing program across all the divisions of Simon & Schuster."

The SimonSays Podcast launched with exclusive interviews with bestselling author Jennifer Weiner talking about both her latest novel, Goodnight Nobody, and In Her Shoes; Carole Radziwill, author of What Remains, a memoir from the award-winning television producer and widow of Anthony Radziwill, nephew of President John F. Kennedy; and Anthony Dias Blue on his Pocket Guide to Wine 2006.

"I'm so pleased to be a part of the SimonSays Podcast launch," said author Jennifer Weiner. "A podcast is a wonderful way to promote books to readers who embrace the newest technologies. As an author, I'm grateful for the additional exposure to this ever-growing group."

Also on the SimonSays Podcast schedule for this fall are: original interviews with Pulitzer Prize-winner Ron Powers (Mark Twain: A Life), Lauren Weisberger (Everyone Worth Knowing), Doris Kearns Goodwin (Team of Rivals), Vince Flynn (Consent to Kill), and Frank McCourt (Teacher Man). Fall podcasts will also feature audiobook excerpts from Jimmy Carter's Our Endangered Values, Stephen King's The Shining (read by Campbell Scott) and The Colorado Kid, and Steve Martin's Shopgirl (read by the author).

Titles from Simon & Schuster Children's publishing will be added to the SimonSays Podcast in 2006. Simon & Schuster is part of the entertainment operation of Viacom Inc.
