Advanstar Acquires Travel Agent Magazine

Advanstar Communications Inc. has acquired Travel Agent Magazine, a magazine serving travel agents in the United States, from Universal Media, Inc. based in New York City.

"The acquisition of Travel Agent provides Advanstar a platform to grow in the travel and tourism market -- the largest industry in the world. Advanstar now offers the best integrated marketing solutions for businesses involved in this booming market," said Robert Krakoff, chairman and chief executive officer of Advanstar Communications Inc.

Established in 1930, Travel Agent is a weekly magazine with a BPA-audited circulation of more than 51,000 reaching 100% of U.S. travel agencies certified by the Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC), Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) and International Airlines Travel Agent Network (IATAN). Travel Agent will continue to operate from its current New York City office. The editorial and publishing staff will remain intact.
