April Edition Will Be Premiere's Last

Posted on March 10, 2007

Hachette Filipacchi is ceasing publication of the print edition of Premiere with the April edition. This is the issue currently on newsstands. The end of the print edition will also result in 25 job cuts.

A report in USA Today says the magazine's website at premiere.com will continue. There are also plans to revamp and expand the site later this year. USA Today says Premiere's paid ad pages were down 25% last year.

The magazine website does have a blog from Premiere film review critic Glenn Kenny. It is starting to look like all but the top print publications in each category will be forced to end their print magazines to focus on the Internet.

There were rumors that Hachette would sell Premiere, but a Reuters report says Premiere was never for sale. There were meetings about possible joint ventures with other companies for the magazine. This is probably want triggered the sale rumors.
