David Zinczenko Named Editor-in-Chief of Men's Health Magazine

Posted on July 28, 2000

David Zinczenko has been named editor-in-chief of Men's Health magazine, a Rodale publication. The announcement was made by Steve Murphy, president and chief operating officer of Rodale.

Zinczenko, 30, will oversee the editorial content of Men's Health's U.S. edition, 21 international editions, brand extensions, and websites. He completes the magazine's new senior management team, which includes Paul Turcotte, who was named vice president and publisher last week. Zinczenko will report to Ed Fones, vice president and worldwide publishing director of Men's Health, and will return from his assignment in Milan to fill his new role immediately.

Murphy says in the announcement, "As one of the best and brightest of the new generation of magazine editors, Dave has the respect for writers, understanding of readers, and global industry savvy necessary to meet the task of growing Men's Health both domestically and internationally. His enthusiasm and keen abilities led to the successful launches of nine international editions of Men's Health in the past two years."

Zinczenko says, "I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the talented U.S. editorial team at the flagship edition of Men's Health, while our global brand extends into even more international markets. By tapping into the incredible resources of 22 international editions, we can strengthen Men's Health's position as the most important -- and arguably the most successful -- men's magazine in America and around the world."

Zinczenko joined Men's Health in 1993 as an associate editor and was later named senior editor where he was an integral player in the launch of the magazine's first 12 international editions. Prior to joining Men's Health, he was an associate editor at Men's Journal for its launch and the two years following it.
