- Disney Loses Pixar
Pixar Animation Studios will seek a new partner in 2006 after its agreement
with Walt Disney Co. ends. Pixar is best known for the hit films
Toy Story and Finding Nemo.

- AOL Loses 2.2 Million Subscribers
In 2003 AOL managed to lose 2.2 million subscribers with almost
400,000 of them being lost in the fourth quarter.

- Too Cold For Books
The extreme cold spell in the northeast has kept shoppers away
from bookstores. This will result in dwindling sales for
bricks-and-mortar booksellers for as long as the cold continues.

- Many younger readers are dumping newspaper subscriptions for
the Internet. This information combined with a recent
Pew Poll that found younger readers are becoming less interested in
traditional news sources is causing concern for newspaper publishers.

- The Advocate, a Baton Rouge newspaper, is offering early
retirement packages to older workers. The paper wants to trim
costs before investing in new printing equipment.

- The Maine Times, which has been both a glossy lifestyle
and travel magazine and a weekly political and environmental news
source, will cease publication. The February issue will be its
last.

- USA Today is looking into the accuracy of articles written
by former foreign correspondent Jack Kelley.

- Wizards of the Coast, Inc., a subsidiary of Hasbro, Inc.,
announced that it will be closing its chain of retail stores,
including Wizards of the Coast stores and the affiliated The
Game Keeper stores. The company has retained Gordon Brothers

- Layoffs at Newsday
Newsday has cut 26 non-newsroom jobs. The New York
newspaper employs over 3,000 people. Newsday is owned
by the Tribune Company.

- The New York New Media
Association (NYNMA) has ceased operations due to a
significant financial shortfall. NYNMA's programs will
be acquired by the
