Frank Lalli to Resign from Time Inc.

Posted on July 9, 1998

Frank Lalli has decided to step down as senior executive editor of Time Inc., effective July 31. Lalli, 56, was named to his current position in January 1998 after eight years as Money's managing editor. He also was president of the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) from 1996 to April of this year, and was named Editor of the Year by Advertising Age last year.

"We will miss Frank's energy," said Time Inc. Editor-in-chief Norman Pearlstine. "And we will not be shy about calling on him if we have a project that fits his many talents."

"Although I appreciate the opportunity Norm gave me this year to help expand Time Inc. internationally, I miss the day-to-day responsibilities of managing an enterprise as I did at Money magazine," said Lalli. "I am eagerly looking forward to my next career opportunity."

Under Lalli's leadership, Money's total audience grew to nearly 10 million readers. The magazine also produced a series of successful franchise extensions, including a prize-winning new media site, several popular newsletters and a top-selling book series.
