Kingman Films and Script Magazine Announce 1998 King Arthur Screenwriters Award

Posted on May 14, 1998

Kingman Films International, a production company helmed by 32-year-old filmmaker and entrepreneur, Arthur Chang, and Script magazine, announced the second annual King Arthur Screenwriters Award (KASA). The contest, which is held every two years, will award each winning screenwriter a cash prize of $100,000. KASA plans to award up to 10 winning scripts, but guarantees a minimum of three will be selected.

All the winning scripts will be placed in development at Kingman Films International. The contest is open to all screenwriters -- new and established. All genres of innovative and original scripts are welcome. Professional readers narrow the entries and a selection committee from Kingman will choose the final winners.

The contest was designed to find screenwriters with character-driven stories unaffected by Hollywood formulas. Entries are $55 and will be accepted from April 1 through June 30, 1998. Winners will be announced Oct. 31, 1998. All submitted scripts need to be in proper speculation format. Shooting scripts will not be accepted.

For an entry form, send an SASE to: KASA c/o Script Magazine, 5638 Sweet Air Road, Baldwin, Md. 21013.
