PC Magazine Launches EasyComputing

Posted on July 13, 1998

PC Magazine, a Ziff-Davis publication, announced it will launch EasyComputing Magazine on July 21 as a guide to buying and setting up PCs, hardware, peripherals and software. EasyComputing Magazine is designed to meet the information needs of the large and growing number of people with enough computing experience to want to learn more about computers and to take advantage of computers in their daily lives.

Regular features include comparative product reviews, new technology guides, what's hot, smart buying techniques, gaming, getting around online and a celebrity column on personal computing. EasyComputing will feature select test results on a wide range of computer products from the PC Magazine Labs.

EasyComputing will publish summer, fall and holiday issues in 1998 with a distribution of more than 200,000. EasyComputing will publish at a higher frequency in 1999. The magazine is targeted at new PC users and PC users who are upgrading their systems but who do not have the time or interest to turn to established business and enthusiast computer publications. More than 32 million new PCs were shipped to the U.S. market in 1997; 15 million of these were sold for home use -- the majority (61%) either replacing or supplementing existing systems.
