Rolling Stone Under Fire for Boston Bomber Cover

Posted on July 17, 2013

Rolling Stone is under fire for featuring Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on the cover. Rolling Stone claims they are examining "the complexities of the issue" because the young terrorist is the same age as its demographic. However, the magazine could certainly still investigate the bomber without having him on the cover. The magazine's editors write, "The fact that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is young, and in the same age group as many of our readers, makes it all the more important for us to examine the complexities of this issue and gain a more complete understanding of how a tragedy like this happens."

Many are upset about the cover and the Wall Street Journal reports this is leading to stores boycotting the magazine. The Boston Mayor wrote in a letter to the publication that said, "The survivors of the Boston attacks deserve Rolling Stone covers, though I no longer feel that Rolling Stone deserves them."

ABC News reports that some stores are dropping the magazine. CVS and Walgreens have decided not to carry the issue. Take a look:
