KnightRidder.com, founder of Real Cities, a nationwide network of city and regional websites, extends its reach with two new partners, The Seattle Times Company and South Jersey Publishing. The announcement came at Editor & Publisher's 12th annual interactive newspapers conference and tradeshow in Dallas, Texas.

``Real Cities is the fastest-growing network of local sites on the Web today,'' said Dan Finnigan, president, KnightRidder.com. ``We, together with our highly credible partners like The Seattle Times Company and South Jersey Publishing, are providing the strongest local online brands in Real Cities markets. As a result, the network has become the local option for advertisers, businesses and vendors as well as the first choice by Web consumers coast to coast. We're looking forward to continuing steady and aggressive growth.''

The Seattle Times Company will become the Real Cities partner in the Seattle market. In Atlantic City, South Jersey Publishing Company will use the Real Cities platform to launch a regional portal that includes content from a variety of local sources: The Press of Atlantic City, At the Shore entertainment weekly, and Shorecast magazine. Content from these publications will be brought together at the site JerseySouth.com.

With the addition of these two partners, the Real Cities Network extends to serve 40 cities or regions. Among Real Cities' other member websites are BayArea.com, Cincinow.com, DFW.com, Indy.com, KansasCity.com, Kentucky.com, Miami.com, Philly.com, PittsburghFirst.com, PhoenixAZ.com, Charlotte.com, TwinCities.com and NorthJersey.com.
