The Daily Show Hires Chris Kreski as Head Writer

Comedy Central's The Daily Show has hired Chris Kreski as the entertainment and news show's head writer. Kreski will oversee The Daily Show's staff of writers who pen each show's headlines. Kreski officially joins the staff April 13. Kreski served as head writer for MTV's Video Music Awards, wrote episodes of Beavis and Butthead and co-authored Star Trek Memories with William Shatner.

Kreski comes from MTV where he served as vice president, editorial where he supervised and scripted the network's on-air promos, image campaigns, contests and character-driven interstitial programming. He served as head writer for MTV Video Music Awards(1990-97) and the cult classic game show Remote Control (1988-91). Additionally Kreski wrote multiple episodes of Beavis and Butthead and co-created the CableACE Award winning series Idiot Savants.

In addition to writing for television, Kreski is also an author. In 1992, he collaborated with Barry Williams (a.k.a. Greg Brady) for Growing Up Brady. The book remained on the New York Times Bestseller's list for 17 weeks. In 1993, Kreski teamed up with William Shatner on Star Trek Memories which spent 13 weeks on the Times' Bestsellers list, earning the pair a sequel -- Star Trek Movie Memories. Kreski's upcoming titles include Life Lessons From Xena: Warrior Princess and he pairs with Shatner on Get A Life, digging into the strange world of "Star Trek" fans and conventions.
