The 1stBooks Library, an electronic books distributor, has announced this week that it has adopted Adobe Acrobat software's portable document format (PDF) as its exclusive format for commercial distribution of eBooks for the desktop PC and the Mac.

1stBooks president, Timothy E. Jacobs, says in a statement, "After extensive research, and downloading more than 250,000 eBooks to retail consumers in avariety of formats, we have concluded that Adobe PDF is the best way to deliver online content to consumers. The fact that PDF files can be read equally well on PCs and Macs makes Acrobat the best choice for any company serving a broad segment of the public."
