Alt-n Premieres New Animated Graphic Novel

Posted on June 5, 1997

Alt-n, an on-line entertainment network, has premiered the first issue of BRAVO, a new comic book from comics company ARComics, Inc. BRAVO is an animated graphic novel, combining the high-quality art of a traditional comic book with new technology made possible by the Internet, creating a hybrid exclusively for the new medium of the World Wide Web.

"ARComics, Inc. is one step beyond traditional comic book companies," says Terrance Henry of ARComics, Inc., the developer of the comic. "Instead of pages, our animated title, BRAVO, will be broken up into frames, each of which contains several seconds of animation. I believe we are doing something that is unequaled in the industry right now. Not only are we going to provide great storytelling and artwork about characters in our universe, but now we can provide some great special effects to make our project even better."

"BRAVO is one of first original content sites to take full advantage of the new medium of the Internet," says David Holmes of alt.reality, Inc., creator of the alt-n web site. "It is truly unique, as good as traditional comics books in regards to art and story, but presented in a new way never before possible. We're proud to host this comic on our site."

BRAVO uses Macromedia's Flash technology for the animated panels. Flash uses streaming technology, which allows the animation to start playing while the graphics are still downloading.

New issues of BRAVO will appear every other week, exclusively on alt-n.

ARComics' BRAVO joins the entertainment network's extensive line-up of content, which currently includes fifteen daily comics and four cybersoaps, several of which are exclusive to alt-n.
