Posted on May 12, 1998

American Medical Association's new, on-line KidsHealth Club prepares parents to meet their child's changing health care needs. The new KidsHealth Club debuted on the Internet May 8. This new feature of AMA's consumer-focused Health Insight Web site provides free children's health information resources and interactive features.

To enroll parents can visit the KidsHealth Club site and complete the on-line membership form. There is no charge for membership and customized information starts arriving in about 1 week.

Bonnie Chi-Lum, MD, MPH, Editor-in-Chief of the AMA's Health Insight Web site, and Neil Izenberg, MD, Editor of KidsHealth at the AMA, head up the team of professional health writers, medical editors, physicians, and other experts who develop KidsHealth Club content, all of which is reviewed independently by one or more children's health experts.

"We've launched KidsHealth Club packed with information on parents' highest-interest areas-emergencies and first aid, childhood infections, nutrition, safety and accident prevention, and childhood development," says Dr Chi-Lum. "And we're constantly updating and adding new information and interactive features. That's why we encourage parents to visit the site frequently. It's one of the best ways for them to know how to respond appropriately to their growing child's changing health care needs."
