AOL Buys GamesDaily Website

Posted on August 21, 2006

AOL has acquired the GameDaily website and newsletter from Gigex. The purchase price was not given. AOL will add content to GameDaily from AOL's game-related websites AOL Games and Games.com.

Ralph Rivera, vice president and general manager of AOL Games, told the AP, ""Video game sites have become a valuable resource for advertisers wishing to reach the young male audience, and GameDaily is a brand that resonates with these highly sought-after consumers."

AOL also owns several game-related blogs through its Weblogs, Inc. division including the popular Joystiq blog. They must want to have tons of gaming content.
