Windows NT Magazine has announced the appointment of John D. Ruley as contributing editor. Ruley, a technology journalist who specializes in the Windows NT and Windows 2000 environments, is well known through his longtime association with Windows Magazine. His work will appear regularly in Windows NT Magazine beginning with the November 1999 issue.

Ruley was on the Windows Magazine staff from its inception in 1990 until publication of the print edition ceased in July 1999. In addition to his column that appeared in each issue from February 1992 on, he wrote many feature articles and reviews for the magazine. He is also the principal author of the books Networking Windows NT, Networking Windows NT 3.51, and Networking Windows NT 4.0, published by John Wiley & Sons.

Ruley's regular column for Windows NT Magazine is titled "Power User." It is a how-to column that focuses on Windows 2000 Professional and Windows NT Workstation. In addition to the column, Ruley will write an email newsletter, "Power User UPDATE," which will provide news, troubleshooting and tips for Windows 2000 power users. He will also moderate an online forum attached to his column.

"We are delighted to welcome John to Windows NT Magazine," editor-in-chief Karen Forster said in making the announcement. "John's expertise will add tremendous value for our readers and newsletter subscribers, and we look forward to a long association."
