Business Blogging Award Winners Announced

The winners of the 2005 Business Blogging Awards have been announced. The awards included categories like Best Overall Blog (Winner: Security Awareness), Best PR Blog (Winner: Media Guerilla), Best New Blog (Winner: Monty's Bluff), Best Media Blog (Winner: Fast Company Blog) and Best Leadership Blog (Winner: Leadership Now).

A columnist at Marketwatch.com, the financial website recently purchased by Dow Jones, didn't like the awards and said they are just a PR exercise. But every industry has a number of awards (which usually provide at least some self-promotion of the industry itself) and these awards have to begin somewhere. It could also be argued that most awards are somewhat of publicity exercise.
