Children's Television Workshop Announces Its First Recommended Reading List

Posted on November 15, 1997

Just in time for the holiday season, Children's Television Workshop (CTW) announced something that will add fun and laughter to family celebrations: its first-ever recommended reading list.

The list offers several exciting children's books, including perennial favorites and new releases, aimed to increase family closeness. With this list, which will be updated quarterly, the creators of "Sesame Street" make selecting a quality book easy as A-B-C.

"CTW has always been an advocate of educating and entertaining children," said Nina Link, CTW's senior vice president of publishing and new media. "Spending time reading together is invaluable to the personal growth of parent and child. Reading spurs the imagination and encourages children to explore the world around them. It's an ideal way to relax together and share a wonderful gift."

CTW is a not-for-profit company using media to educate and delight children and families worldwide. Its expertise encompasses programming for traditional and new media, as well as publishing, product licensing and community outreach. Best known as the creators of "Sesame Street," CTW programming has been enjoyed in more than 140 countries, including 17 indigenous co-productions reflecting local languages, customs and educational needs.
