Posted on February 25, 1999

CMP Media today announced that Matthew Bromberg has been named publisher of the company's online products for business technology professionals.

As publisher/online, Bromberg will develop the overall strategy and lead the sales, marketing, new product development, and business development operations for the entire suite of online properties in CMP's Business Technology Group. These include publication sites, such as InformationWeek Online, and Web-only products like Planet IT, TechWeb, and Byte.com. Previously, Bromberg served as InformationWeek's director of business development and also as the Group's director of new media.

"Matt has had great success at CMP building online brands that share the same loyal following that our print publications enjoy," said Tony Uphoff, vice president/group publisher of CMP's Business Technology Group. "The Web offers media companies the opportunity to add value to its readers and at the same time attract new audiences through sites that provide unique content, services, and community features. Matt has helped us capitalize on these opportunities through products like the InformationWeek Executive Network and Planet IT -- both of which make it easier for IT professionals to share ideas with peers. In his new role, he will now turn his attention to launching new sites during the next few months that zero in on some of the most pressing issues facing IT professionals."
