Posted on December 28, 1999

Computec Media U.S.A., Inc. has announced plans to launch three new publications in 2000. The first publication to be introduced in the new year, MCV Now, will shift current MCV print editorial content to an online-only medium and will provide new features and faster service. Later in the year, the company will also launch two new consumer publications.

"When we decided to launch in the U.S., we set very aggressive goals for ourselves to become the leading publisher in computer and video games magazines," said Torsten Oppermann, chief executive officer, Computec Media U.S.A, Inc. "We've already achieved tremendous success with our first two brands, MCV and incite, and now we're taking it one step further, in technology and product extensions, with our three upcoming publications."

Christian Svensson, editor-in-chief and chief executive officer of MCV, will lead the launch and establish the MCV Now publication, as well as roll out Computec's two new consumer publications in 2000. MCV Now has also reunited mmWire's primary editorial team, Mike Sabine, current MCV deputy editor-in-chief, and Simon Price, current MCV online editor, to help manage the new online publication. In their new role, they will be co-editors of MCV Now.

A beta version of MCV Now will go live on February 1, 2000, at www.mcvnow.com. For a limited time, a free trial subscription will be offered to current subscribers at the website. The last printed issue prior to transitioning online will be December 24, 1999.
