eFit.com to Launch Fall 1999

Posted on August 4, 1999

eFit, a new fitness lifestyle destination, will launch this fall. At launch, eFit will cover a variety of sports, fitness, health and nutrition topics that will be offered through inclusive "FitTracks." FitTracks will expand to 25 categories including: Cardio Fitness, Cooking & Nutrition, Running, Cycling, Walking, Yoga & Mind-Body, Diet & Weight Loss, Fit Style, Healthy Living, and Weight Lifting & Strength Training. These sections will be produced by a team of experts in their respective fields.

Within each FitTrack, visitors will be able access broadband video seminars and events, including daily fitness clinics and healthy cooking demonstrations, all originating from eFit's digital in-house studios. eFit will also provide visitors with over 40 daily-updated original articles covering their areas of interest. eFit will also provide "Mentor & Buddy Programs" in which athletes, industry experts and eFit members can network.

"eFit will fill a void in the relatively untapped fitness lifestyle category," said Charles Platkin, eFit President and CEO. "eFit has assembled a group of Internet veterans and top editorial talent from national consumer magazines to deliver a premier health and fitness destination. There have been many successful health and medical sites, but for the first time there will be an in-depth, cross-category site devoted to health and fitness -- an area which more than 50 percent of the U.S. population has a strong level of interest. And after almost a year of hard work and planning, we're all looking forward to a successful and well-received launch."

Led by Lisa Goldstein, former Editor-in-Chief of Fit magazine and Executive Editor of Living Fit magazine, the eFit editorial team is composed of veterans from many of the top consumer publishing companies including Conde Nast, Hearst Publications, Rodale Press, Hachette Filipacchi and Gruner + Jahr.
