CDW Government, Inc. (CDW-G), the government and education subsidiary of CDW Corporation, has announced the launch of Fed Tech, a quarterly magazine designed to assist IT decision makers and implementers who use technology to build a more effective federal government. The premiere issue will be sent to 70,000 qualified subscribers. The magazine is published by Ziff Davis Integrated Media and was unveiled at FOSE, the federal IT tradeshow in Washington, DC.

The magazine is aimed at IT professionals such as CIOs and CSOs who establish IT policy directives relating to their agency's mission and objectives. It also targets mid-level IT managers consisting of agency managers like information resource management chiefs, along with managers and directors responsible for day-to-day IT management and purchasing.

"Because CDW-G partners with federal IT executives and has deep working relationships with them, we have a unique perspective about what technologies provide the most effective solutions to best meet the needs of government," said Jim Shanks, president of CDW-G. "Fed Tech will be a valuable resource for exchanging information."

Fed Tech magazine, which carries the tagline "Technology Insights for Leaders in Federal Government," will extend the CDW-G brand of tech publications. The magazine will offer government IT management information and market intelligence on how to build technology solutions for federal departments and agencies. In addition to covering trends, news and analysis, readers can digest information on programs, policies and funding sources. Fed Tech also details IT case studies designed to offer a forum for best policies and practices.

Lee Copeland, a seasoned editor and journalist, will be the editor-in-chief of Fed Tech. Copeland also is the editor-in-chief of CDW-G's Ed Tech and State Tech magazines. Previously, she wrote about business and technology for The Chicago Tribune and The Chicago Sun-Times and was a senior editor at Computerworld.

"The expectations and aspirations of the federal public sector have never been greater or more important," said Copeland. "Technology is a critical component for achieving these ambitious goals. Yet, no publication exists to provide the in-depth analysis and strategic advice to federal IT pros to assist them in succeeding. What you will find in the pages of CDW-G's Fed Tech is insight from inside and outside the federal sector on tackling the challenges of a government in the midst of remarkable change and the pursuit of excellence-all involving technology."

A wholly owned subsidiary of CDW Corporation, CDW-G addresses the needs of the government and education markets with brand-name technology products and services. CDW-G is a source of technology products and services from top name brands such as APC, Apple, Cisco, HP, IBM, Microsoft, Sony, Symantec, Toshiba and ViewSonic.
