Posted on August 16, 1999

Wired News, a Lycos site, has announced the appointment of a new content editor, Jon Rochmis. Rochmis comes to Wired News from SF Gate, a Bay Area-focused news site offering content from the San Francisco Chronicle, San Francisco Examiner, KRON-TV, and BayTV. While at SF Gate, he participated in creating the style and presentation of the site, and later became weekend content and features editor.

As content editor at Wired News, Rochmis will be responsible for generating daily content with an emphasis on politics and business. "In Jon Rochmis, we have a content editor who combines the talents of a street-wise reporter, a seasoned editor, and a skillful manager," said George Shirk, editor in chief of Wired News. "Jon is an ideal choice to help lead Wired News into the future."

Previously, Rochmis helped launch BayInsider.com as senior producer of the popular Bay Area-centric site. Rochmis also served as a newspaper reporter for 15 years, with a nine-year stint covering sports for the Oakland Tribune.
