Freelancer.com Announces Acquisition of Warrior Forum

Posted on April 19, 2014

Freelancer.com, a freelancing marketplace, has acquired Warrior Forum, an Internet marketing forum. Warrior Forum has been online since 1997 and has over 7.2 million postings. TechCrunch reports that Freelancer.com paid $3.2 million for the forum, which has over 732,000 members. Freelancer.com filed for an IPO on the Australian Securities Exchange last year.

TechCrunch says Freelancer.com will run Warrior Forum as an independent site after the acquisition. Warrior Forum founder Allen Says also says this in a post about the merger. He says, "Warrior Forum will remain independent to Freelancer.com and will have a separate dedicated team to better support you. I know they are excited to be joining our great community and will be working alongside us to take Warrior Forum to the next level."

Freelancer CEO Matt Barrie said in a statement, "We are looking forward to working with the Warrior Forum community to take it to the next phase. Allen has done a tremendous job over the last 17 years to build the business to where it is today. Warrior Forum will remain independent, and we're committed to listening to the community and we'll be providing a dedicated team and resources to make the marketplace and forums even better."

TechCrunch says Freelancer acquired a few other communities before Warrior Forum. These acquisitions include Scriptlance, which it acquired in July 2012. These acquisitions have enabled Freelancer to quickly ramp up its user base.
