Posted on February 17, 1998

Golden Books Family Entertainment has signed a master publishing license with Sirius Thinking, Ltd. and WGBH Educational Foundation, Inc. for the development of children's books based on the educational television series, Between the Lions, anticipated to debut on PBS in early November 1999. Golden Books plans to publish into a broad range of formats and price points including coloring books, workbooks, leveled readers, chapter books, storybooks, and novelty. The first books in this series will be published in conjunction with the series debut.

Between the Lions is a multiple media literacy initiative for children jointly produced by Sirius Thinking, Ltd. and public broadcaster WGBH. Between the Lions blends animation, puppets and live-action with skits, songs and guest celebrities and leads young viewers into an imaginary library where books, words and letters vividly come to life.

"Between the Lions and Golden Books are both committed to educating, inspiring and entertaining children," said Willa Perlman, President, Golden Books Children's Publishing Group. "Between the Lions contains all of the elements to revolutionize children's educational programming. We are delighted to have this unique opportunity to partner with the most forward-thinking developers of children's television."

Golden Books Publishing Company, Inc. is a subsidiary of Golden Books Family Entertainment, Inc., which creates, publishes, and markets storybooks and picture books, interactive electronic books, coloring books, and activity books for children; and other books and products for the family
