GoodNoise Becomes EMusic.com

Posted on June 2, 1999

GoodNoise Corporation has announced that it is changing its name to EMusic.com Inc. The change to EMusic.com reflects the company's mission to be the premier website in the emerging market for downloadable music. GoodNoise acquired the domain "emusic.com" in its acquisition of Creative Fulfillment, Inc., earlier this year. The formal change of the company's name is subject to stockholder approval at a special meeting of stockholders, which is anticipated in July. GoodNoise will begin operating as EMusic.com immediately.

"We believe that EMusic is an ideal name from a variety of perspectives. In addition to its simplicity and memorability, it also defines our focus -- the electronic distribution of music," said Gene Hoffman, president and CEO, EMusic.com Inc. "As we expand from our initial focus on modern/alternative rock and into genres such as Jazz, World/Fusion and Classical, EMusic provides a flexible brand that will work across these categories."

As part of the rollout of its new brand, EMusic.com unveiled a redesigned website focused on providing consumers with a more efficient buying and downloading process. In addition to a new look and feel featuring the EMusic.com brand, the new site now offers the ability to browse by genre, by artist and by label. Consumers who go to GoodNoise.com will be automatically referred to EMusic.com.
