Google to End AdSense for Feeds on December 3rd

Posted on October 1, 2012

Google has announced an end to its AdSense for Feeds service. The closure was announced in a spring cleaning post of closed services.

AdSense for Feeds was designed to help publishers earn revenue from their content by placing ads on their RSS feeds. Starting October 2, we'll begin to retire this feature-and on December 3 we'll close it. Publishers can continue to use FeedBurner URLs powered by Google, so they won't need to redirect subscribers to different URLs.

Google also has information about the closure here. AdSense for feeds units will continue to accrue earnings until December 3.

The closing of AdSense for Feeds has some predicting the end of FeedBurner itself. TechCrunch sees an inevitable closing of FeedBurner in the future. TechCrunch might end up being right, but so far Google has not announced plans to shutter FeedBurner. In the announcement Google said, "Publishers can continue to use FeedBurner URLs powered by Google, so they won't need to redirect subscribers to different URLs."
