IDX.com Acquires Dietsite.com

Posted on July 16, 1999

IDX.com has announced the acquisition of Dietsite.com, an information source for diet and nutrition. IDX.com, a division of IDX Systems Corporation, was formed in April 1999 to provide end-to-end solutions for connecting healthcare practitioners and provider organizations with their patients and trading partners. The company will incorporate Dietsite.com's content and functions into its Patient Services offering. Dietsite.com is an online source of diet and nutrition information for its 50,000 registered monthly users. It will be maintained as a stand-alone site.

"This is one of the many planned acquisitions and strategic alliances we will be making as we roll out IDX.com services, using IDX's asset of 118,000 physicians and 30 years of experience in the healthcare and technology sector, to find the best partners," explained IDX Chief Executive Officer Richard E. Tarrant. "With Dietsite.com, IDX.com's physician customers will be able to provide their patients with disease-specific dietary information. Using customized web pages set up for each patient, physicians and healthcare organizations will also provide general nutrition and wellness services."
