Jake Silverstein Named Editor of New York Times Magazine

Jake Silverstein has been named editor of The New York Times Magazine. He was previously the editor-in-chief of Texas Monthly. He is the author of Nothing Happened And Then It Did: A Chronicle in Fact And Fiction.

The announcement was made by Jill Abramson, executive editor of The New York Times. Abramson says, "Jake is an ambitious and provocative editor who, given the depth of his talents and experience, will make for a dynamic new leader of The New York Times Magazine. With Jake at the helm, The Magazine will be redesigned, making it more beguiling, displaying more of the best riches of The Times. The traditional magazine forms will continue --- narratives, deep profiles, investigative reporting, essays, photography -- and others will be invented."

The Times says that under Silverstein's editorship the Texas Monthly received twelve National Magazine Award nominations and won four times. Silverstein first joined the magazine as senior editor and 2006 and was named editor in 2008. Silverstein can be found on Twitter, @jakesilverstein.

Politico says Silverstein is replacing Hug Lindgren who is now with The Hollywood Reporter.
