James S. Berrien Named President of Forbes Magazine

Forbes has announced that James S. Berrien, President of American Express Travelers Cheque Group, has been named to the new position of President - Forbes magazine, effective August 1.

Berrien will have operating responsibility for advertising sales, marketing, promotion and circulation for Forbes magazine and its supplements, Forbes ASAP and Forbes FYI. He will also oversee the Forbes Management Conference Group and will report to Timothy C. Forbes, Chief Operating Officer.

"My new role at Forbes gives me the chance to help shape the future of one of the greatest brands in the field of business information -- while at the same time returning to my roots in magazine publishing," Jim Berrien said. "I couldn't be more thrilled and delighted."

Jim Berrien, 47, joined American Express in 1984 and has held a succession of key management posts in the company's financial and publishing divisions. He assumed his current position as President of the Travelers Cheque Group Worldwide in October, 1998. Before that, he was based in London as President of American Express Establishment Services Group in Europe, a division of American Express Travel Related Services.
