Posted on July 14, 1999

Journal Register Company Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Robert M. Jelenic has announced that Journal Register Company has completed its acquisition of Town Talk Southern, Town Talk Eastern and the Delaware County Journal from Lewis B. Lax. Based in Holmes, PA, the acquisition includes three suburban weekly newspapers serving the Philadelphia suburbs of southeastern Delaware County with total weekly distribution of approximately 38,000.

"I am happy to welcome these publications to the Journal Register Company family," said Jelenic. "The two Town Talk newspapers are the sister publications to the four Town Talk newspapers based in Media, PA, that we acquired as part of the Goodson acquisition last July. As a matter of fact, the six publications are already sold in combination."

"The acquisition strengthens our presence in the Philadelphia area," said Journal Register Company Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Jean B. Clifton, "and extends our reach to more than 1.5 million readers in the greater-Philadelphia area."
